NWT Bloggies?

I have been inspired by the Nunies and the general awesomeness of Nunavut blogs. I would be willing to run a similar contest for the NWT if it's something you guys would be interested in. Any thoughts?

I'm sure I don't know all of the NWT bloggers, but the ones I do know of:

And me.

Okay, there's no way that's all of us. See what I mean? There's no blogging community here. Who am I missing? And if I do this, will anyone care?

I think it's a good idea Megan. I greatly enjoyed the Nunies. If you start a NWT blog roll I'll link it on my blog and Nunavut Blogs!

Anyone else?

let's make a site... a directory... people can register... we can get a domain, like www.nwtblogs.ca - or something a little more creative...
it'd be fun... we could pick out daily posts to highlight on the main page, you've seen that sort of thing before.... you in? i can design.

Can you tell that I have an ellipsis fetish?

When I started out blogging here a couple years back, there were only around 5 blogs or knew of that had been around longer than mine. Now there are something like 40-50. So I'm confident NWT blogs will grow nicely as well.

Amy, I'd definitely be in. That would be fun. I'd even run an RSS feed on my sidebar.

Any others? This won't work with only two of us.

Ummm..I don't really desire having a bunch of strangers read my rants/musings/whatever. I blog for own mental health, and I really don't care if people read it or not - it's my little thing for me. I don't even give out my blog address to anyone (although I realize some of you link to me, and I am OK with that sort of passive approach). So, the contest idea doesn't really do it for me. Besides, I rarely actually blog about Northern issues or ideas, because of all my workplace restrictions, so while I live here, I'm not even sure my blog constitutes Northern content.

I am conflicted, as you can tell.

Hello Megan,
Ok, I think your right regarding the Blog roll for the NWT's (and maybe Yukon, western Arctic). When I started my blog there certainly weren't a lot of options to share the experiences of the north but now it seems everyone who comes up here for a weekend has a Northern blog :) I think long before we work towards a award for innovation though we should focus on community. My family and I have travelled through all the major northern regions of Canada and I just find the current blog rolls bloated and annoying. To be honest I didn't even know this one existed until you left me a comment today. I'm actaully interested in adding a blog roll to my blog, but I don't have the time or patience to go through the current northern roll and figure out who is still posting and who has anything to do with the north. Regardless, great idea and well met.
Take Care

Yeah, I think that we clearly have no sense of community here. The silence on this topic is deafening. Although I like to be right, I didn't want to be right about this.

I'm looking forward to seeing whatever Amy puts together, though. I think that has some potential.
