Dear everyone,
My mom says if there’s no tooth fairy, I don’t get money for my teeth. I want to get money, but I can’t believe it if it isn’t real.
Now I am thinking that maybe there is no such thing as angels. I think they might just be a story.
My mom says that my grampy has studied a lot and he is sure there are angels, but I think maybe he made a mistake. I think he might just think that because he is a church person. Church people might believe things that aren’t real. I like to go and watch church sometimes when my grampy is there, but I’m not a church person. I do like the bread at church. It would be good to have bread like that that was the size of my house. It would probably take me three days to eat it all.
If it isn’t real, I can’t believe in it. I can only believe in things that are real. Things like Cleopatra that are in books about real things. I know that Cleopatra was real. There are some books that are just stories and some books that are about things that are real.
Maybe angels aren’t real. I don’t know that for sure, but I don’t know how I would find out. I don’t think God needs guards. That doesn’t make sense. And I am pretty sure that angels are guards for God.

I am SO HAPPY that you are thinking about these questions! These are questions I love to think about!
You must be right about this: that some things in the books are real, and some things are not real. But let's be brave, and let's be thoughtful about this. What do you mean by the word "real"? If you mean to say that "real" things are the things we can touch, then angels cannot be real. But I don't believe that at all! I believe there are real things in the world, which we cannot touch or see. I wrote you already about the number "six": it is real, and yet you cannot touch it.
Angels are like numbers. They are real, but you cannot touch them. You know a picture of the number six: 6. But the picture of six is not really six; the real six cannot be pictured. Angels are like that, too. There is no true picture of an angel.
I agree with you, that God doesn't need guards. Angels, according to the Bible, are not guards. The Bible says that angels are "spirits". They are also God's "ministers". That means they work with God, to make the world go. It's not easy to describe how they do that, but many true things are not easy to describe.
And many of the stories people tell about angels are not true. It's very hard to tell the difference between the true ones and the false ones. It's hard for me to tell the difference, even though I have studied this for many many years.
You are only beginning to study this, but you are making an excellent beginning. Keep thinking!

Good for you for questioning your faith, that means you are becoming a brave man. Fearful people believe whatever they want for silly reasons: it makes them comfortable.
A strong man will change his beliefs to follow what is right, especially when others around him think differently.
A smart man will keep his eyes open always for new things to add or take away from himself. New foods, new ideas of God, new versions of history. You used your brain to question the nature of angels and their jobs and decided that didn't make sense. Good for you.
A truly wise man is one who, when he finds the truth, does not argue with others he thinks are wrong. If you believe God is love, why argue with others about it or call them stupid? Actions speak louder than words.
Good luck in the beginning of your search for truth, big guy. It never ends, and if you stop searching and are happy with where you're at, you're too comfortable!

Interesting comment. I don't disagree with everything which you have written, but I do have a couple of questions which your comment made me think about.
First: You wrote, "A strong man will change his beliefs to follow what is right, especially when others around him think differently." I don't disagree with this, after all it certainly takes courage to stand up for what is right.
Second: You wrote that, "A truly wise man is one who, when he finds the truth, does not argue with others he thinks are wrong. If you believe God is love, why argue with others about it or call them stupid?" This I must disagree with.
Between these two points it seems that you have made the claim that one should stand up for what is true even in the face of those who disagree with you and at the same time you should not waste time in actually disagreeing with those who disagree with you. Two serious questions arise from this: 1) How do you determine what is true if it is not through conversations with and study of those who disagree with you? 2: If what you believe to be true is true, shouldn't you want to tell others about the truth?
