As a design major (who doesn't use her degree, so take this with a grain of salt), it doesn't look as clean as the older one. Perhaps one or two more colors in your scheme would help define certain elements.
And the brown...it doesn't flatter the blue.
In short, I don't feel this design reflects you or your blog. You don't have to go back to the old design, but perhaps just keep working on the color scheme.
